Case study
We looked for a partner assist us with the overall process of overseeing our Catering Services by setting the tasks
that would be required to meet the future service objectives as set by CEH's appointed representatives.
Our initial evaluation commenced with three full consecutive days on site in order to prepare our Interim Report.
To help achieve the Centre's goals, Balance Partnership's role was to work closely with the Facilities Manager within the following terms of reference:
- Prepare a detailed report and activity plan with agreed timescales and present to the Facilities Manager (FM).
- Present proposals for the "Services" in agreement with the FM.
- Liaise with the FM as required in order to meet new operating directives.
- Liaise with the CEH's Committees if required.
- Make recommendations to CEH on best practice during any change to service programmes.
- Assist with the preparation, renewal and introduction of any new services to staff during the term of this agreement.
- Provide templates for the integration of Catering related IT support for the services i.e. budget, stock control, wastage data and
statistical support for producing rolling forecasts. This will include the introduction of an "Operational Budget vs Actual" model.
- Provide a fully detailed and costed Internal Issues portfolio with the Catering Manager in line with CEH's policy towards functions and cost control procedures.
- Prepare job descriptions for all the catering staff as required.
- Keep the FM updated and make recommendations with regard to all matters relating to catering policy during the term of this agreement.
- Be available for catering related meetings with the FM.
- Prepare a draft interim budget for the current trading year with the FM/Catering Manager and full budget for year two and implement its monitoring procedures.
Balance Partnership also prepared a bespoke DVD for the revised administration as backup for the new control procedures prior to completing
the assignment.
